What is TAN and why do I need it?
TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) is a 10-digit alphanumeric number required by all persons responsible for deducting or collecting tax at source. Without TAN, you cannot file TDS/TCS returns or issue certificates.
 
 
Typically 3–7 working days from the date of application. The TAN number is communicated via email and the physical allotment letter is dispatched by post within 15 days.
